83% of young entrepreneurs against 70% of older entrepreneurs think that new technologies have a very positive impact on their activities. This is revealed by the results of a survey carried out by the International Trade Center (ITC) in collaboration with the Togo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIT) on the promotion of the competitiveness of SMEs in Togo.
These investments, this category of entrepreneurs motivates them by the requirement of competitiveness of their companies. More specifically, the report establishes that 62% of young people inject resources into research and development (R&D) while 73% of business leaders under the age of 34 commit funds to new products or processes.
Among older entrepreneurs, the proportion is 61%. Essentially, these investments consist of disbursements for the purchase of technological equipment, such as computers, routers, printers and scanners.
These statistics, according to ITC, confirm the increasingly frequent use of e-commerce platforms, electronic data storage and online payment technologies, observed among young entrepreneurs. This “ illustrates the fact that young Togolese entrepreneurs are much more willing than their older counterparts to invest in their technological capabilities and innovation activities ,” the report said.
Finally, the survey reports a high rate of over four points among young people who express an interest in cloud, server and network services.
